AGENCY SHIELD PROGRAM

Swiss Re’s Commercial Insurance (underwritten by Westport Insurance), working with the Big "I", has developed an insurance agency E&O claims prevention consulting program, called the Agency Shield Program (ASP), which is available exclusively for Swiss Re policyholders.  Distributed through your local Big "I" association it is designed to be an affordable and easy to implement tool to reduce E&O exposure, improve client service and build sustainable, profitable processes.  Policyholders that complete the Agency Shield Program will receive a 10% E&O premium credit good for three years on their next renewal.

The program starts with a simple, yet comprehensive online survey about your agency's processes and current risk exposures.  After completion, the ASP coordinators at Swiss Re will assess your survey and develop a detailed action plan that identifies areas of improvement in your current workflow procedures.  The action plan includes a series of easy to implement steps and recommendations for reducing E&O exposure, strategies to ensure high-quality client service, and counsel on ensuring compliance.

The goal of ASP is to help your agency establish a standardized process that makes your procedures focused and efficient throughout your agency, ultimately leading to better productivity, increased profits, and reduced E&O exposure.

Here's how it works -

bullet Your agency selects a person within your office to be the Agency Shield Program champion.  He/she will be the primary contact for the program and will be responsible for making sure all activities have been completed.
bullet Based on the information within your registration application, the ASP survey will be customized according to your business profile.  The survey asks questions about your agency's policies and procedures relative to automation, documentation, processes and workflows; claims, audits, training and education, licensing and administration and human resources.
bullet The agency champion oversees the completion of the ASP survey, and once finished, returns it to the ASP accreditation center at Swiss Re.
bullet The survey responses are compared with best practices of agencies of similar sizes and operations.  Differences are outlined in a project tracking sheet that contains recommendations on better ways to manage a particular activity.
bullet The ASP Coordinator at Swiss Re keeps tabs on your progress and is there to assist you with any questions or roadblocks you run into.  We recognize that you have an agency to run so these activities are designed to be completed while continuing to handle your daily business.  All activities can be delegated as appropriate and do not need to be completed in their entirety by the agency champion.

Program Features

bullet Detailed and systematic review of agency operations
bullet Focuses on reduction of E&O exposures
bullet Helps agencies avoid the direct and indirect costs associated with having an E&O claim, such as deductibles, loss of credits, loss of productivity and stress of being involved in a claim
bullet Assists you in establishing standards across all agency activities
bullet Helps to develop benchmark processes for new hires
bullet Template for training your staff in the important area of customer service and potential agent liability
bullet Potential for a 10% premium credit good for three years to participating agencies who complete ASP*

* Subject to State Department of Insurance approval

NATIONAL  FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM:

IIAA, Selective Partner on New National Flood Program
IIAA is endorsing Selective Insurance Company's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Write Your Own (WYO) flood program effective September 1.

Selective has maintained an A.M. Best rating of "A+" for 39 years consecutively and has participated in the NFIP WYO program since 1984.

Selective provides new tools as part of its WYO program not previously available to IIAA agents, including free rating software, online processing and inquiry, free flood-zone determinations and excess flood coverage. In addition, Selective has a state-of-the-art processing system approved by the NFIP that makes the policy issuance process quick and seamless.

Selective Insurance Company Highlights

Selective offers a number of important strengths to agents who provide flood insurance to their clients, including:

Ø       59th largest property-casualty company in the U.S.

Ø       $844 million total written premium, $45 million in flood written premium

Ø       76 percent commercial lines

Ø       A+ (Superior) rating from A.M. Best Company, Inc. (www.ambest.com) and Standard & Poor's Rating Services (www.standardpoor.com. ).

Ø       National capacity

Ø       IIANJ "Company of the Year", as voted by agents, every year since the award's inception in 1979

Another bonus for IIAA agents is that Larry Palmer, the former manager of Redland's "WYO" program, brings his 18 years of experience to the Selective flood team. Palmer again will serve as the Big "I" liaison, bringing his unique knowledge of state associations and his familiarity with IIAA members to help make this a smooth transition.

Program Structure

The new program provides hands-on, free support and guidance for members not familiar with writing flood insurance. It will also offer greater benefits to agents who have mastered flood insurance and have large volumes of business through a tiered commission structure.

Smaller Volumes

To help new or smaller agents place flood insurance, as part of the new arrangement with Selective, IIAA will establish the Big "I" National Flood Office (NFO), complete with a dedicated national staff person. Operating as a marketing and servicing agency, NFO will work on a brokerage basis with agents with smaller books of flood business. NFO will assist agents with determining flood insurance needs, providing flood-zone determinations and issuing elevation certificates and help them take advantage of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) education, advertising and marketing resources. Also, the NFO will provide online resources and quick quote access for agents positioned for e-commerce.

Once an agent reaches approximately $10,000 in written premium, he or she will have the option to graduate to the next level of the new endorsed program-a direct contract with Selective with a rewarding tiered commission structure.

Larger Volumes

All agents will start with NFO for evaluation of their business opportunities through the Big "I" Flood Program. Agents who have books of business larger than $10,000 or those who graduate from the NFO program can contract directly with Selective. Commissions will be tiered on a volume basis from 15-20.5 percent, rewarding agents for growing their book of business, and negotiable for premium volume over $250,000. In addition, agents who qualify will have access to www.Floodonline.com, Selective's online processing software that provides instant quotes, online flood-zone determinations and online application completion/submission.

Rollovers

In light of the rapidly approaching end to the Redland contract, IIAA is working quickly to inform agents and states about the new NFO and the Big "I" Flood program with Selective Insurance Company. IIAA is encouraging all agents to plan ahead for the transition. The program is available nationwide to all IIAA members. Agents with existing flood books of business should call the IIAA NFO at 800-221-7917 for details on the rollover process and incentives. Agents wishing to participate in the Big "I" Flood Program with Selective should contact the IIAA NFO for details. For an agent kit, call IIAA's fax-on-demand service at 800-296-0578 and request document number 2310.

For questions and additional information, contact IIAA's Markets Coordinator Linda Mackey, CIC (lmackey@iiaa.net) or at 800-221-7917.
