Our National Association began operations in 1896 and Maryland agents began meeting around that time. They met under several names, but the purpose of the Association has remained constant, to assist independent agents and help them serve the Maryland Insurance Consumer. The Association became a corporation in 1936. It was then, our Mission Statement was written.
The mission of Big I Maryland is to ensure the success of independent insurance producers and agency staff throughout Maryland by focusing on providing access to products for both the agent and their clients, advocacy, timely industry information and superior education programs.
